FAQs

Grades 6-12: Standard course offerings in all core and non-core areas are available, including collegiate accredited curriculum from various providers through our FIA learning management system. Courses are generally asynchronous, however we offer several blended courses in high-interest areas. Advanced pre-college courses are also available in conjunction with our higher education partners as well as opportunities to pursue unique projects of interest that demonstrate mastery of academic standards. On many cases, proctored exams are administered as a pre-cursor to earning credit at the high school level or a passing grade at the middle school level.

Regardless of grade level, our course content is 30-50% greater than what students might expect to see in a typical school setting. This means that students who remain on task will cover more material because content is presented in real-time, not at a pace independent of a student’s progress. Students, learning coaches, teachers and families will always know the point and pace at which students are progressing. Consequently, our academic team can either accelerate or scale back content and pacing depending on progress and what is appropriate for the student’s graduation plan. At least 4-5 hours per day is strongly recommended to remain on pace and demonstrate mastery in the secondary grades.

Students are considered present if they are at or ahead of pace and working the requisite hours per day as indicated above. Students are considered absent if they are not responding to communications (calls, emails, LMS notifications, etc.) and are behind pace and not committing the time necessary for success. Regular participation and communication with coaches and teachers is critical to success!

All students will receive letter grades and report cards at the conclusion of each semester (mid January and early June). High school students will receive letter grades (A, B, C, D or F).

All Forward International Academy teachers, coordinators and administrators are experienced, degreed and/or certified professionals who serve FIA students from many locations around the globe.

Forward International Academy students will be provided with an official transcript and an FIA diploma upon successful completion of their graduation plan.

The admissions process begins with a consultation or pre-enrollment meeting with Forward International Academy (FIA) academic staff. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that future partner schools and/or students learn about FIA’s courses and platforms and discuss learning plans that highlight goals and aspirations for life after FIA. Meetings typically last approximately 30-45 minutes and take place in a web conference format and are important for determining if FIA is a good fit. To get this process started, please complete the FIA Pre-Enrollment Form found on the Admissions tab on our website. At the conclusion of this process, you will receive a link to schedule the meeting with FIA staff.

Forward International Academy will generally take enrollments at any point during the year and calculate a start date based on information gathered in the pre-enrollment meeting. Tuition and fees may be prorated based on start date.
